In 1998, following the closure of the famous Esplanade, Southend's live music scene lacked any serious venue for local and up and coming national bands.

Bands such as Pearl Jam, Thunder, The Little Angels, Stereophonics, The Cardigans, Divine Comedy and many other monster acts performed there on the ladder to success.

Other pubs and small run down clubs tried to capitalise on the gap but never really gave the bands or the public a venue dedicated to the live scene.

Therefore, we decided to refurbish the existing club and gear it to such a venture.

The entrance, bar areas, stage, light show and sound system are designed with this in mind.

The Music Venue provides an excellent setting as a compact, idyllic scene for live music with acoustics for any musical style.

Maple, the same sound promotional team from the Esplanade, known for there quality portfolio and music connections fully equipped the venue making it the best small music venue for miles.

Some of the performing guests have such busy schedules that we occasionally have to squeeze them in mid-week.  Beyond this, every Saturday night is full of live music lovers.  Indie, Rock, Soul and R&B are our main contributors although on occasion Reggae and Jazz artist also appear.  With so many cover bands swamping the scene, only the best get a chance to entertain you here.

Licensed until 2am six nights a week.

When the bands finish the party goes on!

You owe it to yourself to take a look around at other venues and what they offer in terms of surroundings and not just the acts that perform there.  Try Chinnery's and we are sure you won't bother going elsewhere again.

Adverts appear locally on billboards, newspapers, radio and flyers but we like to keep you personally posted on coming events.  Email us your details and we will keep you updated.

Look forward to seeing you soon.   Keep music live!
